About Reggie Bibbs

When Reggie started living his truth, it set him free

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is the world’s most prevalent genetic condition, affecting 1 in 3,000 births. While NF is common—Reggie Bibbs’ case is extraordinary. And so is his story.

Reggie spent the first 40 years of his life in hiding. Although he’d endured much cruelty from strangers because of his appearance, that wasn’t what kept him in the shadows. Reggie was less concerned about what people might say and more concerned about how he might make others feel—that his appearance could make them uncomfortable, or even a little frightened. So Reggie’s isolation was not a selfish act driven by fear, it was a selfless act born of an abundance of empathy and heart.

By all rights, Reggie could’ve stayed in isolation. No one would’ve blamed him. But he just knew that if he could only get out there, meet more people, and share his story—he could “make NF known throughout the world.”

And that’s exactly what Reggie did

With the support of a few close friends, Reggie quickly became a regular at sporting events, restaurants, music festivals, and more. He wore his trademark t-shirts everywhere, encouraging people to “Just Ask!” about his story and his condition…and ask they did! Even Reggie was surprised by how warmly the world received him.

As a result of his courage, Reggie has increased NF awareness immeasurably. But more importantly, his “Just Ask!” campaign spread globally on social media, reaching countless others with NF and inspiring them to follow his lead into the broader, brighter world.

“Just Ask!” has allowed Reggie to travel places he never thought he’d see, meet more people than he ever knew he could, and live a life he never dreamed possible.

His story is powerful, inspiring, and full of hope. But Reggie’s message is especially meaningful to those who are struggling against the odds, no matter how great or small those odds may be.
